I decided to do an extra special tea tonight, only chicken and salad but with LOTS of the 'bits' I don't normally buy, the table shows just SOME of the foods I cooked - and did pasta salads, with beautiful fresh prawns and the chicken was a LARGE fresh bird - tasted delicious. AND I did a homebaked apple pie and custard for afterwards. Lovely surprise for DH - the kids came down moaning 'don't eat that, don't eat this - how long is tea gonna be, I'm starving, why are you going to so much trouble'? then they kept bickering with each other - DROVE ME BARMEY. Anyway, DH came home and was pleased that I'd done a nice surprise - meal was really nice. THEN the kids kicked off afterwards, and really put a damper on the night. TYPICAL.
We opened the bottle of champagne which friends bought us for our joint 50th Birthday party back in December 06......................it truly was delicious being a proper champagne.
DH & I will just go out for a meal in future and not bother with the kids !
